Len Glassman, Owner

Len Glassman is a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Health Nutritionist with over 20 years of fitness professional experience. Len is a Fitness Bootcamp Instructor, Recipe Book Publisher, Health Advisor, Corporate Wellness & Lifestyle Consultant and Motivational Speaker. He is the Creator of the 'Fit-ness Fun-damental's inter-active exercise DVD series.

Len's passion for fitness and compassionate manner has helped many people of all ages and abilities incorporate and stick to a positive health and wellness lifestyle.

From elite athletic training and mentoring experience - to serving as health advisor for the NJ State Police & Benevolent Association (NJPBA) & NJ State Firefighter's Mutual Benevolent Association (FMBA) - Len's background is as varied as his passions.

Through the team of fitness professionals assembled at Personal Best, Len has the resources and contacts to make big things happen in areas diverse as Youth & Sports Specific group training programs, Pilates Apparatus training, TRX specialty classes, off & on-site Bootcamp programs, Nutritional Counseling and Corporate Wellness Workshops, Motivational Speaking and Programming.

Mirjana Banic

Mirjana Banic

Mirjana is a certified personal trainer and a certified tennis instructor. She lettered all 4-years in varsity Track and Field, was a Big East scorer in the discus and placed 5th in the Penn Relays, College Division and went on to place 7th in the discus at the 2002 ECAC as Team Captain. For several years, Mirjana set her sights on becoming a member of the United States Olympic Bobsled Team. Her team placed third in the U.S. Women's bobsled team trials in Lake Placid, N.Y. She also competed at the Push Off Championships and traveled to Calgary, Canada for training. She has now set her sights on becoming a physical education teacher.

Matt Andzel

Matt Andzel

Matt is a 2002 graduate of Westfield High School who earned academic honors and lettered in football and track. Matt graduated from The College of New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree, played football and received the Hank John Award. Matt went on to earn a Master's Degree in Exercise Science at Kean University and is currently the Assistant Defensive Line Football coach for Kean.

Matt's been training young athletes for several years to help them improve overall sports performance. His specialty is helping kids understand running mechanics to develop speed, quickness and power. He has worked at several football conditioning camps and knows how to help young athletes get stronger in a safe manner.

Matt enjoys training male and female athletes of all ages and abilities. His dedication and compassionate manner are excellent qualities for someone looking to take their health and fitness training to a whole new level.

Mike Bukowsky

Mike Bukowsky

Mike graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Health & Physical Education. He has been teaching elementary physical education at Washington School in Westfield since 2002. Mike is certified as a strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and certified personal trainer (NSCA-CPT) and has extensive experience training clients of all ages and abilities.

He specializes in youth conditioning to help kids develop sports-based skills and coordination. He also enjoys working with individuals who are looking to take the next step in the journey to greater fitness and improved lifestyle. His philosophy is training the whole body with supersets and multi-joint movements to keep the heart pumping.

Many of our readers have children who are, or are just beginning to reach the age where fitness needs to be a part of their lives. Mike's experience and passion for helping kids of all ages and abilities reach their fitness potential carries over into his training enthusiasm. Children over the age of 10 can greatly benefit from working with Mike. As a Westfield gym teacher, camp counselor and mentor, Mike's training and experience are well suited to help introduce fitness into kids' lives in a positive manner.

Individual and small group youth conditioning training programs are now forming.

Sheri Cognetti

Sheri Cognetti

Sheri has been working in the fitness industry for 25 years amidst raising children and caring for her family. She holds numerous certifications in personal training, group exercise, cardio-kickboxing, cycling, arthritis foundation courses, TRX and Pilates. She holds a certification in Pilates mat and apparatus from the Physicalmind Institute.

In the last 10 years Sheri has really been focusing on Pilates as a total body functional conditioning format that combines stretching and strengthening to help you feel great. Pilates works on stabilizing you from the inside out. The stretching always feels great and the strengthening that comes from longer muscles is empowering. Pilates helps to balance the body that often gets misaligned from activities of daily living. While research is still ongoing on Pilates with low back issues, Sheri has found it to be most helpful to many individuals that she has worked with. Recently Sheri has added TRX to her Pilates practice as a further challenge.

Lori Duffy

Lori Duffy

Lori grew up and now resides in Westfield with her family. Her passion for fitness and desire to help others succeed has been a constant in her personal and family life as well as her professional career as a former attorney. "I've always been a fervent athlete, having competed in diving and lacrosse on both the high school and collegiate levels." She is also an avid tennis and paddleball player and has competed in, and had, two top 50 finishes in women’s triathlons.

In addition to raising a family, Lori volunteers for, and is active in Westfield Town affairs, having been a member of both the Town’s Planning Board and Board of Adjustment. Additionally, she has volunteered as a coach for the Westfield Girls Lacrosse Program and has been a certified YMCA Swimming Official for the past four years.

Recently, Lori dedicated herself to studying for and becoming a certified personal trainer and turn her life-long passion of fitness and healthy living into her chosen profession.

Lori understands the demands of raising a family, pursuing a rewarding career and giving back to the community. If you've ever thought about working with a highly motivated individual who will go the distance for her clients, now is the time to get started with Lori.

Lori is well suited to work with men and women of all ages and abilities. She is particularly interested in working with teenage girls to help them deal with body-image and weight-related issues.

Linda Michalak

Linda Michalak

Linda is an experienced pilates reformer instructor and certified personal trainer. Linda left the corporate world to raise her two sons and is well into her second career as a fitness professional. An avid runner, Linda has competed in some local 5k races, adding up the miles weekly, until she got up enough "nerve" to train for her first marathon. Now with a couple marathons under her belt, she enjoys helping others challenge themselves both physically and mentally towards better health and well-being.

Wanting to learn and do more, she became a certified Personal Trainer. She then developed an interest in pilates and became a certified Pilates Reformer Trainer. When speaking about Pilates, Linda's passion is evident: "Pilates Reformer Training takes strength and flexibility training to a new level. It teaches us how to exercise correctly and efficiently, and to become mindful of our body and our health". With the recent surge in Pilates training, Linda has found that men can greatly benefit from reformer training when it comes to improving their golf or tennis swing.

Linda also works with clients in her capacity as a certified personal trainer. She thoroughly enjoys helping others and likes training people of all ages and fitness levels.

Frank Fryer

Frank holds two certifications in personal training and has been involved in sports and fitness throughout his life. Frank played high school football, college basketball and competitive flag and touch football. Frank remains an avid skier, softball player, cyclist, youth football coach, and general fitness enthusiast and enjoys teaching and inspiring others.

Jim Kompany

Jim Kompany

Jim is a nationally certified personal Trainer with several years of training experience. Jim began weight training/body building at the age of 18 in order to "challenge myself and to improve my self esteem".

Having worked ked in the finance industry for several years, Jim decided to become a police officer and has been a Roselle Park police officer for the past 6 years. "I began personal training as a way to combine two of my biggest passions in life: working out and helping others." Jim is a very goal oriented person, constantly setting goals for himself (financial, spiritual, educational, relationship, and self improvement). "Training has afforded me the opportunity to better myself both physically and mentally."

Most of Jim's clients are women who wish to improve their appearance and self esteem. "Weight loss and toning are also major points of interest for many of my clients. Building a good rapport and forming lasting relationships with many clients is extremely important to me. I am looking forward to working with anyone who is willing to give me their all. In return, I promise to focus all of my efforts on helping them achieve their goals and dreams."

Karen Megaro

Karen Megaro

Karen Megaro is a certified personal fitness trainer, pilates mat and senior fitness instructor and certified Zumba dance instructor and resident animal lover. Karen has an in-depth background in group exercise, bootcamp instruction and pilates which compliments her personal training program. Her multi-faceted approach to exercise and wellness streamlines the body while developing muscle definition and improving posture. Nick Gregorio

Nick Gregorio

Nick is a certified personal trainer and NJ state certified teacher of health education, physical education, and special education. Nick is currently an assistant football coach at Kean University and has also coached at Springfield College (MA), Ridge High School, and A.L. Johnson High School.

Nick received his B.S. from Montclair State University, while competing in Football and Track & Field. Nick was a multiple time All-American for the MSU Track & Field team. A native of New Providence, he also has a M.Ed from Springfield College and a M.S. from New Jersey City University.

Nick has trained youth, high school, and collegiate athletes. He s especially focused on developing speed, strength, agility, and other performance based skills. Nick's greatest satisfaction in personal training is helping others achieve their fitness and performance goals.

Cheryl Schwartz

Cheryl Schwartz

Cheryl holds a Master of Science degree in Microbiology from Rutgers University. After raising a family and maintaining a long-term career in the pharmaceutical industry, Cheryl left the corporate world to pursue her life-long passion for fitness and her desire to help others. She is a Certified Pilates Reformer Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, as well as a Group Fitness and Group Cycle Instructor. She has also achieved additional certifications in yoga, stability ball, and aquatic fitness.

Wellness and fitness have always been part of Cheryl's life, especially dance, pilates, hiking, yoga, cycling and tennis. She loves the outdoors and has participated in several long distance and multi-day cycling events. Her personal Pilates practice has enhanced her strength and flexibility, and she enjoys sharing this mind-body approach with her clients. Cheryl encourages her clients to achieve their personal health and fitness goals in a positive environment, while experiencing 'fun' and self-body awareness within their daily lives.

Ellen Lester, Founder

At age 50, Ellen began thinking about longevity. She realizes that, as life spans keep increasing due to modern medical advances, each person must ask themselves "How good do I want to feel in the future?". With that in mind, she developed a new and pleasurable lifestyle for herself that included a proper balance between exercise, weight-training, cardio, and nutrition. Wanting to help women as she helped herself, Ellen became a certified personal trainer and certified senior fitness instructor.
